Pastors and parishes of Sri Lanka, faithful to the Lutheran Confessions because they are committed to the Word of Christ, are part of the Christian fellowship that has come to be known as The Lutheran Church in Lanka. In this church body, which takes seriously the need to study God’s Word thoroughly and to agree with what has been revealed in it by God the Holy Ghost, God has blessed us to confess His truth unanimously, as St. Paul counsels (1 Corinthians 1:10).
Even while our country has suffered much, from violence to natural disasters, we have been blessed to have the comfort of knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ has taken away our sins (1 John 1:7), guaranteed to those who depart this life trusting in Him resurrection unto eternal life (St. John 11:25, 14:19), and the peace that passes all man-made peace (Philippians 4:6–8,St. John 14:27), including this blessing of walking in unity with our brethren in Christ (Psalm 133:1). This peace that springs from the forgiveness of sins—because Christ has made peace with God for us sinners (2 Corinthians 5:18–21)—we desire for all our countrymen (and for all sinners throughout the world). This is the mission of The Lutheran Church in Lanka as it is to be for Christ’s Church everywhere: the forgiveness of sins (St. John 20:21-23).
We hope that you will be blessed by the content of our website as it develops and that you will also pray for us as we seek to bring Christ’s forgiveness to our homeland. Life in our congregations: preparing for worship in the way the Church has historically worshiped, vibrant Sunday School programs, and the care of both body and soul in our home for girls.
